Melissa is an enthusiastic graduate student at Southern Arkansas University, currently navigating her way through a master's program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her background includes a bachelor's degree in Communication from the University of Arkansas. With three decades in the healthcare field, she holds an RDA license with the State of Arkansas and also serves as the director of a local environmental nonprofit.
Actively building her counseling skills, Melissa has developed an interest in areas like anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, midlife transitions, and relationship challenges. She is drawn to a client-centered approach, infused with elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy. This blend seeks to empower her clients with practical tools to enhance their daily lives. Those familiar with Melissa often highlight her genuine kindness, patience, and authenticity.
Outside the academic and professional sphere, Melissa shares a 35-year bond with her husband, relishing moments with their three children and eight grandchildren. A nature enthusiast at heart, she is actively involved in efforts to clean local rivers, lakes, and streams. When she finds time for herself, Melissa can be found bicycling on local trails, gardening, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends.
Melissa currently offers pro bono and low-cost therapy options with rates $0-30 per hour.
